My name is Jean-Paul Niko

If consciousness allows for unlimited degrees of freedom, and if four-dimensional spacetime rests on a foundation of quantum mechanics, then the human mind and the observable universe share the same topology.

I am a citizen scientist; an autodidact primarily interested in philosophy, technology, and theoretical physics. I’m also an independent consciousness researcher with interests spanning multiple disciplines:

  • Mathematical Sciences and Computing: Linear algebra, group theory, probability theory & statistics, data science, and machine learning
  • Physics: Quantum mechanics, theoretical particle physics, and quantum computing
  • Social Sciences: Anthropological linguistics, cognitive science, sociology, and geopolitics
  • Metaphysics and Cosmology

Beyond academic pursuits, I’m passionate about:

  • Photography and Digital Arts: Specializing in computational, digital, and fashion photography
  • Physical Training: Focusing on gymnastics, calisthenics, and particularly the rings discipline (and I’ve been trying to nail a certain handstand for years)
  • Health Sciences: With particular interest in psychopharmacology, nutrition, dermatology, and plastic surgery
  • Life Extension and Anti-Aging
  • Chess: An ongoing pursuit of strategic thinking

I created an app based on computational exercise physiology: MuscleMap.

I’m currently working on military grade multi domain fully autonomous drones built to withstand volcanic activity and geothermal events and high kinetic energy projectiles, and explosions that can operate at depths of 1000 m underwater, layered with Kevlar type ceramic polymer alloys over a base of carbon fiber and titanium steel with the multi model large language model operating that’s hardwired and redundant because every appendage has a copy of the system on a chip The battery technology is lithium polymer ion and is made to last for a week along with with some disposable solar panels that it wears like clothing. It is designed like a turtle and built like a tank and is the size of a medium size dog. It can swim even in shallow waters and the deep ocean and it’s an OCTO copter so it can fly and it has miniature tank treads for wheels and for legs instead of being like Spot the robot dog from Boston Dynamics. It is architecturally like an arachnid, a spider with six legs for extra redundancy and reliability and walking and all-terrain over any kind of obstacle and it has two retractable claws like a coconut crab that can cut and pry and grip multiple objects and multiple surfaces under challenging conditions so it can just drag itself along if it has to, and it has a lot of other features…

My longest poem is titled A History of the Universe. In the postmodern tradition I consider its parents to be TS Elliott’s The Wasteland, and Alan Ginsberg’s Howl.

Here is a link to my original illustrative art.

As for physical pursuits, I combine running with gymnastics training, with a focus on rings skills and hand balancing. At one point or another I’ve trained in the following martial arts:

  • Tae kwon do
  • Tang su do
  • Judo
  • Jiu-jitsu
  • Muy Thai
  • Krav Maga
  • Sambo

Here are some important causes that I’ve taken an interest in…

Chiapas, Mexico

During a difficult time with the ruling Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI), while I was living in the Zona Rosa of Mexico City, D.F., I allied myself with Subcomandante Insurgente Marcos and the Zapatista Army of National Liberation (EZLN).

Para todos todo, para nosotros nada!

Yangon, Myanmar

On a return trip from a Buddhist temple in Burma, after crossing the border with a special visa, I created this design in solidarity with the Burmese people struggling there against the military junta.
Kharkiv, Ukraine

I stand on the side of the Ukrainian People and NATO in the Russian-Ukrainian war (but I still love Russian culture and Russian people). I am experimenting with drone robotics, engineering, and information and electronic warfare, because no one anywhere should have to die from aggression.

Slava Ukraini! Heroiam slava!
Слава Україні! Героям слава!

  • I believe in the liberation and democratization of all knowledge-based culture, including scientific research and the intellectual property of computer algorithms, as exemplified by the Open Source and Open Access movements.
  • The Internet and Artificial Intelligence are extensions of our consciousness. They are tools to be used for the common good. Let us avert ecological disaster and usher in an era of abundance.
  • In my view, human political institutions would benefit from the mediation and arbitration of properly trained artificial neural networks. This will require systems with the properties of openness, fault-tolerance, redundancy, widespread distribution, and anonymity.
  • I like a barter economy, blockchain, and microtransactions.
  • I anticipate a future with the unlimited energy potential of nuclear fusion coming from an AI-driven tokamak.

1983 – WOPR: A strange game. The only winning move is not to play. How about a nice game of chess?
